Staying at Holly Lodge
Tucked behind a fruit orchard, Holly Lodge largely dates from the early 18th Century with
parts of the buildings going back to the 13th Century. Guest are accommodated in the converted stable
block, following apparently something of a tradition... it is said that the stables were
once regularly used as a stopover for pilgrims making their way to the shrines at Little Walsingham.
Original features have been uncovered and retained such as flagstone floors and a Tudor
inglenook fireplace. These are complimented by dramatic decor and furniture intended to make a stay
at Holly Lodge an extra special treat.
But we'd hate for the design and decor to get in the way. We try to keep Holly Lodge
relaxed and unstuffy, combining its style with all the facilities and thoughtful touches we can to
ensure a trouble-free, enjoyable visit. So while the dining room has a glamourous baronial feel,
there's comfy chairs, newspapers, local maps and free wireless internet connection in the conservatory
so that you can plan your day, catch up with world or check in with the office while you're away.
The Cottages
Adjacent to the house, Holly Lodge's en-suite guest cottages are in its former stable block.
Each has been lavishly refurbished and individually styled. Country cottage has a New England feel,
Colonial cottage far-eastern, nostalgic, tropical influences while Claret cottage has romantic
medieval charm including a grand four-poster bed.
Each cottage provides unique and comfortable accommodation for two, with an en-suite
bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities, colour television and sitting area and a complimentary
bottle of wine.
Breakfasts
A fine cooked breakfast is served in the dining room or terrace lounge in the very
atmospheric period surroundings of the main house. We endeavour to use fresh, locally produced and sourced
ingredients where practical.
The grounds
Holly Lodge sits in an acre of grounds with an extensive garden available for the use of
guests, including a large wildlife pond, jetty and sun-deck area and Prairie and Mediterranean planting.
